Investors are just another person like you whose business is to INVEST and get GREAT Return-On-Investment. Like you are searching Investors, they are also searching for YOU or anybody who has a Great Business. The Best thing is if they chase you 😉
There are many online and offline platform that helps both entrepreneurs and Investors to discuss, meet and collaborate. You can make profile at #AngleList, #LetsVenture and many more. There are local groups like Startup Saturday, Entrepreneurs Hub, Coffee Club and many Startup events that help for networking. You can easily find it using Facebook and social media.
Here are some realities :
1. Finding investors consume lots of time and startups slow down when founder missed office just to chase #investors. The Real Investors don’t waste your time and take decision in 3rd meeting. (Rest others are just have other intention to make you slow. Always check profile of the investor and their “monthly” status and sometime Yearly reports. Some invite entrepreneurs just to get ideas and you can waste lots of time.
2. Nowadays everybody know putting “investor” in the profile attract more people (aka Fake Investor #Profiles). You must check their Portfolios and may find ways (PR news, calls, email) to contact their “investee” company.
3. Investors are choosy and they don’t invest whatever come into their way. They have criteria based on (a) industry (b) revenue traction and profitability (c) uniqueness of business (d) huge market.
In my case (c) and (d) worked. my both investors knew what i was building, my venture (MeriCAR.com) is the first of its kind in India with huge Car Aftermarket.
First investor i met through email connected through PR News and Second Investor at #StartupEvent.
Apart from running own venture I also help others startups to grow and scale and connect them to my #networking of investors.
