Somebody asked me – “How can i find and meet my first investor for my startup?
My reply is :
Like you are searching for investors, they are also searching for entrepreneurs. Mostly get only 20% success of finding the right company that gives expected ROI.
1. Through Media PR
All funding news have name of the investors and they also release PR online to let the world know what kind of #business they want to fund. Also, they disclose total funds available for investment. You can check their partners name and search it on Linkedin or on their investment firm website.
In 2011, i read news of launch of new fund by three entrepreneurs-turned-investors. I got the email from the interview and sent an email and got reply. This is how i met first investor for http://www.mericar.com
2. Through Startup Events
You can find them into some startup events. There are very popular large Startup Events like TiEcon, YourStory which are organized every year. (Check this year event at goo.gl/BkqzcM). The motive is to connect entrepreneurs and investors.
I got to know about my 2nd investor while i was waiting for my turn for 1-to-1 meeting arrangement, that is also called “INVESTOR-DATING”, it helps you to sit for few minutes with investor. There is a separate session of Funding PITCH before investors.
Even it looks costly sometime, but i think this is worth spending for tickets to meet your First Investor. Check this link and visit this year at goo.gl/BkqzcM
